FAQ

  • What Is Microdermabrasion?

With microdermabrasion, we use a handheld wand that sprays microcrystals on the face to exfoliate the skin. The abrasive crystals slough off dull, surface-level skin cells, revealing the fresher, younger skin underneath. The procedure is minimally-invasive. Outside of some redness and sensitivity to sunlight, there are virtually no side effects other than smoother, refreshed skin.

  • What Is Hydrodermabrasion?

Hydrodermabrasion is a new procedure that also exfoliates skin. It differs from microdermabrasion because it employs saline solution and oxygen rather than microcrystals. With hydrodermabrasion, the device sprays a supersonic jet of water droplets, which peels away the top layer of the skin. The result is similar to a microdermabrasion treatment, but it also has the added benefit of improving circulation and hydrating the skin. This procedure also boosts collagen production, which has an anti-aging effect on the skin.

  • Which Procedure Is Better?

The answer depends on the unique skin concerns of each individual. People with sensitive skin may be better suited for the gentler hydrodermabrasion procedure. Also, certain skin conditions like acne and blotchiness can be worsened by microdermabrasion, in which case hydrodermabrasion would be preferred. However, microdermabrasion is still a safe and pain-free treatment for people who desire smoother, fresher-looking skin

Why Facials, what do they do and what to expect.

  • What Is a Facial?

While it’s not a mandatory skincare ritual for everyone, facials can certainly help improve the look and feel of your skin, especially if it’s congested. The typical facial is designed to exfoliate, hydrate and, in some cases, open blocked pores.

Most facials start with thorough cleansing and steaming and end with extractions performed by a licensed professional. There are additional facial procedures out there that go beyond the routine cleansing, steaming and extracting, these include chemical peels, laser facials, light facials and more. If this is your first facial, it is recommended to stick to the basics to see how your skin reacts.

  • How Do I Prepare for a Facial?

There’s not much you need to do to prepare for a facial, but there are a few products you should consider setting aside before your Facial. Avoid using retinol or any other product that will dry out your skin, some products can make your skin more sensitive to facials. If you’re using a retinol or a product formulated with acne-fighting ingredients — think: salicylic acid or benzoyl peroxide — take a break from them in your routine as your facial approaches. This can help reduce any unwanted sensitivity and ensure your facial is as comfortable as possible.

  • What Should I Do After a Facial?

After your first facial, there are a few dos and don’ts to follow. If you can avoid make up this is great so that you can allow your skin to breathe and soak in any products applied during the service, if not, you can apply makeup then gently remove before bedtime.

Another important post-facial step is to stay out of direct sunlight and reach for broad-spectrum sunscreen along with a wide-brimmed hat before heading outdoors because facials can make your skin sensitive to sunlight. The last thing you want after your skin-enhancing facial is to cause damage.

  • Who Is the Right Candidate for a Facial?

Contrary to popular belief, facials aren’t exclusive to acne-prone or mature skin types. Everyone should take the time to remove pore-clogging skin impurities, regardless of age, skin type and color. (If you like you can talk to your dermatologist to find out if you have any contraindications that may interfere with any Facial treatments.)

  • How Often Should I Get a Facial?

Typically, getting a facial once a month is ideal. Some clients also get a series of Facials (6 in a row over period of six weeks) annually or for more dramatic results ie; Special occasions Wedding, Graduation, Milestone Birthday, Reunion…

Waxing - First time waxing? Here are a few Questions / Answers that will help enhance your experience.

  • What are the benefits of waxing vs shaving?

Apart from leaving your skin noticeably smoother for a longer period of time, waxing also helps in the removal of dead skin cells. Waxing is also the smarter choice because as you wax, you will immediately begin to weaken the hair follicles, which in turn will result in hair growing back slower, lighter and thinner.
